SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Testing

--After vaccination or infection, there are individual differences in the concentration of neutralizing antibodies in the body. Also, antibody will wane over time. After several months, your antibody levels may drop to levels that do not have sufficient antibodies to provide effective protection. A neutralizing antibody test can detect the concentration of antibodies in your body that are useful against the COVID-19.

--It is important to remember that SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody testing should not be used alone to confirm a diagnosis of a current infection. Patients who test positive for neutralizing antibodies should continue to be vigilant about following CDC guidelines to prevent COVID-19 infection including social distancing, wearing masks/face coverings in public, and all patients regardless of immune status should receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

What Are Neutralizing Antibodies?

--Antibodies are proteins produced by your immune system in response to an infection. Neutralizing antibodies not only bind to a virus, they bind in a manner that blocks infection, preventing the virus from infecting cells, thereby "neutralizing" the virus. These antibodies are called "neutralizing antibodies".

What Do the Results of A COVID-19 Antibody Test Mean?

--A positive result indicates that neutralizing antibodies were detected, and that the individual has been potentially exposed to COVID 19 or has received a vaccine.

--Although the cPASS SARS-CoV-2 Neutralization Detection test provides a neutralizing antibody result, the clinical applicability of the result is unknown and cannot be interpreted as an indication of immunity or protection from reinfection.

Who Should Get a Quantitative Antibody Test?

--The COVID 19 vaccines are not 100% effective. The Pfizer – BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have efficacy rates of 94-95% which means that out of 100,000 individuals receiving the vaccine, approximately 5,000-6,000 individuals will not have full protection. Anyone who is curious about how strong their immune response is can use this test to quantify their level of protection. This can include COVID 19 exposures, COVID 19 survivors, Immunocompromised patients, post COVID 19 vaccinations (1 or 2 shots), cancer patients, immunocompromised patients, chronic health issues and more.

Benefits Of Neutralizing Antibody Testing:

--Know the concentration of antibodies in your body that are useful against the COVID-19

--Understand if the vaccine is effective or not? Or do you need to mix and match covid-19 booster shots?

--Know if you need a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine

What Is the Procedure?

--A blood sample is taken via a normal blood draw and is sent to the laboratory for analysis. We call you with the results in 1-2 days.

Our Advantages

--The only laboratory in the Mid-Atlantic offering Neutralizing Antibodies Testing
